Visual Basic compile error in Excel

I am receiving compile errors in Excel 2002 when opening an xls file: Visual Basic Compile error in hidden module:AutoExecNew followed by Visual Basic Compile error in hidden moduleistMon.

I was receiving the errors in Word also, but after following the advice of other postings,Word is functioning fine. I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat 5.0, deleted the contents of the Office10\XLStart\ and Office10\Startup\ folders, and deleted the Application Data\Excel10.xlb file, removed my Norton AntiVirus software
