Visual Basic error when running Word 2002

Upon opening and closing Word 2002, I get an Visual Basic
error that says that Macros are not enabled for the
document. It seems to interfere with saving documents and
sometimes locks up the application. I have reinstalled
the Visual Basic application and do not see any change.
Any hints out there?
