Hi,
This issue is caused if you have installed goldmine application or symantec
antivirus program with word 2000.
And they have just recently updated their antivirus definitions and cleared
a virus called blood hound.
What happens is the antivirus application attracts or removes components of
the goldmine link in word causing the compile error in word when trying to
load the macros.
Turning on the block for scripting in the norton antivirus does not work.
resolution steps:-
remove the gmlink from C:\windows\application
data\microsoft\word\startup and rename normal.dot.
This is a known issue with the symantec norton antivirus and the goldmine
application they are currently trying to correct the issue.
Symantec does have an article about how to reset the virus definitions.
search symantec on the bloodhound virus.
I am attaching link to knowledge base article which address this issue.
