Visual C++ Runtime Error

When using Word, it starts and you can type Ok. after a few minutes a box
pops up showing the title "Visual C++ Runtime error" with "an error has
occured in winword.exe" with an OK button.
the OK button closes word and all data is lost.
It did this in Word 2000, we reinstalled and it seemed OK for a while. When
we upgrade to Office 2003, we had the same error.
Can anyone help?
