Visual Report feature - Pivot table unable to create calculated fi

I'm using MS Project 2007 and have created a pivot table using the Visual
Reports feature, however for some reason I can't create a calculated field in
the pivot table within Excel 2007. The Formulas feature is greyed out.
Any ideas? Am I missing some step in the process?

Thanks
Paul

Hello Paul,

I doubt you are doing anything incorrectly. I don't believe you can
write formulas within the Pivot table itself. However, you should
be able to write formulas outside the pivot table area. Perhaps if
you described more clearly what you are trying to do we can lend
some more assistance.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for getting back.

Excel has a feature in a Pivot table whereby you can create a calculated
field of any fields to already exist in the pivot table. For some reason when
I create a pivot table using the feature in MS Project called Visual Reports
the feature which is standard in excel is unaccessisble.

I have exported the MS Project to a pivot table using the "save as" feature
and been able to add a calculated field but it is a lot more work.

Thanks for your conscientious service.

Hi Paul,

After some experimenting (unsuccessfully) I agree that for what ever
reason, I cannot create the calculated field. I tried playing
around with other settings in Excel and just succeeded in locking up
my pc several times.

If I stumble across something that may be of interest, I'll post
here.
