Visual Report - Master Project on Server

Experts, from reading some of the existing postings here it seems that Visual
reports in 2007 do not work as well when generated from a master schedule. I
have a master schedule that has its own wbs and tasks, but also has two
inserted projects inside. the tasks within the master are resource loaded
using resource from the enterprise pool. when try to generate an assignment
time phased report to excel, the work hours are multiplied by 8. any ideas?

Now you know why people recommend that you do not generate Visual Reports
from a master project. I have tested this functionality as well on a master
project with two small subprojects and only a handful of resources, and the
Visual Report doubled the total Work hours. Suffice it to say that you
cannot generate an accurate Visual Report from a master project and I do not
know any way to work around this issue. I think you need to generate the
Visual Reports on each individual only project. Hope this helps.

If all you are doing is creating reports on your master schedule, a better
way of doing things is:

Create a new, blank master each week.
Insert each sub project with the Link option OFF. This copies all Task data
and consolidates all resource information. No need for linked master or
resource pool so no risk of file corruption.
To speed things up, record a macro of creating a weekly snapshot master.
Make sure the first recorded instruction is File, New.
