Visual Reports - Visio Report Templates Missing

I don't have an immediate need for visual reports right now, but I am
wondering why I don't have any Visio report templates.

The manual I am using "Microsoft Press - Office Project 2007 Step By Step"
shows a number of Visio visual report templates that should be available.

I had Visio 2007 installed on my computer before I installed Project 2007.
I only have the standard version of Visio 2007, not the professional version
though. Could that be the reason I don't have those templates?

The Visio Visual Reports require Visio PROFESSIONAL 2007. This is because
Visio Professional 2007 offers Pivot Diagrams that are not available in the
Standard version of the software. Unfortunately, the requirement for Visio
Professional 2007 is little known. When we were writing our Ultimate
Learning Guide to Microsoft Office Project 2007, we were not aware of the
requirement and did not include it in our book. We wrongly assumed that any
version of Visio 2007 would work with Visual Reports. Hope this helps.

You are more than welcome. Most people don't know that either. Last
January, I was a speaker at a conference that also included presentations on
Visio Visual Reports two guys from Microsoft that were Visio experts.
Later, I overheard a gentleman asking the two of them why he couldn't see
the Visio Visual Reports, even though he had Visio Standard 2007 installed
on his laptop. They were scratching their heads, trying to figure out why
this didn't work. I interrupted their conversation and told them that the
Visio Visual Reports require Visio Professional 2007. The Microsoft guys
put "two and two together" and noted that the Professional version of Vision
2007 includes the PivotDiagrams feature that is not included in Vision
Standard 2007. So, in that brief encounter, I taught the Visio experts
something new, and they taught me something new as well! :)
