Visual Sourcesafe style "Set Working Folder" in Sharepoint

Hi

I used to use VSS and "Set Working folder" was very useful. I check out the
file, it is there in that folder and I can just work from there. If I add
more files, it shows me which files are there to be added. Is there any
similar functionality for SharePoint. Also is there a way I can check out
multiple files at the same time and upload multiple files at the same time.
