vlookup function in Office:mac 2004

Hello,

I am aware that it probably sounds dumb, but I'm quite new to Mac world
(I am still wondering why I did not move from Windows before) and,
although I am suppossed to be a skilled user of Excel, I seem to be
stupid enough to be stalled with this tiny problem.

I do extensively use Find and reference functions, such as VLOOKUP.
Well, the only thing that I get in my brand new Excel for Mac is a NAME
error. Am I missing any add-in?

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Best regards.

Hello Bob,

Firstly thak you very much for taking your time.

Forget about it, I have found where the problem is. I am used to deal
at work with English versions of the office software, but the office
version for my laptop is Spanish.

In Spanish they have always translated the function "Vlookup" as
"BuscarV", but now, hey, someone decided it was about time to confuse
people and included "ConsulV" instead of "BuscarV". As you may think
even if you are not fluent in Spanish Consul stands for consult.

This must be Microsoft`s idea of a joke.

Best regards.

Glad it was that easy :)... it seems that MS feel the need to "refresh"
their products every now-and-then, so they rename a few things & organize
them differently - kind of like laundry detergent without the "NEW &
IMPROVED" sticker, except that you have the added bonus of an Easter Egg
Hunt.

If you really want to get confused, take a look at Office 2007 on the PC
when you get the chance:)
