VLOOKUP takes forever

I have a Macbook Pro 2.16GHz Core Duo with 2GB of RAM. I an using VLOOKUP to pull in data to a single column from a list 20,000 rows of data. Should it take more than 5 minutes for excel to calculate this? The fan is spinning like crazy on my Macbook Pro well.

It shouldn't.
But if your table is imported and calculation is automatic, the VLOOKUPs will be recalculated for each line that is entered
(because the table changes).
That might take very long.

If this is the case, set Calculation to Manual during the import process.
