voice announce suddenly started!

After using Outlook for some time, a weird male voice has suddenly appeared,
announcing such things as "you have 123 unread mails, or "you have six
mails." HOW CAN I TURN THIS OFF?

It might be one of the accessibility features on windows - look on the
control panel, accessibility options applet.
