Voice recognition for Simplified Chinese

I have Office 2003 Pro and Windows XP Pro. Voice
recognition for simplified Chinese is one the 3 Microsoft
speech engines. I've installed East Asian languages.
Keyboard support for Chinese is enabled; however, voice
recognition isn't. In Control Panel's Speech Properties
tab, only Microsoft English (U.S.) v6.1 Recognizer
appears (although Chinese is one of the installed
languages) and the voice recognition option check box
(for any version of Chinese) is not selectable.

Was there something wrong in the installation or, does
something else need to be purchased solely for the voice
recognition.

I looked at the 2 articles you referenced. I had seen
them before but checked them again - but they're only for
troubleshooting if voice recognition doesn't work at all.
My issue is this: voice recognition works - but the only
selection is English. English and Chinese both work for
text input. How do I determine if there's something
missing? I can't get an answer from Microsoft because I
purchased my PC from Dell. Dell's help support from the
Bombay suburbs said they don't sell it. Thanks.
