voice recording on PPT webpage

I am trying to put voice on a PPT webpage presentation. I bought a PC to PC
microphone to do this with. I can get it to work, but the volume is VERY low
compared to regular Windows sound. I did the test hardware thing with the
miKe volume turned up high/low, etc, but still can barely get the green to
show on the test. I have to talk REALLY LOUD in order for it to register. Am
I using the wrong kind of mike? Do I have my settings wrong? How can I get
high quality sound? This is for an instructional presentation.

It is best to make your voice recordings outside of PowerPoint, then insert
them.Usually the microphone hardware comes with software to allow you to do
this.

My microphone didn't come with any software. Could you explain your answer in
greater detail?

Here is a link to Sound Forge Audacity, a free, and very good piece of
software, which will do what you need to do http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

You need to record your voice recordings outside of PowerPoint, as the
quality produced by recording in PowerPoint is less than terrible. the above
link will allow you to make good voice recordings which you can insert into
PowerPoint.

Thanks for the link. One more question...how do you insert it into the PPT
presentation later? The slides are advanced by clicking. It is course
material for students to learn from. Do I have to make a separate file for
each slide? There's about 200 of them per presentation. That's a lot of files.

Hard for me to tell without knowing what the prevention is about also which
version of PowerPoint your using. When you create your voice over's, save
them as .wav files, as these are the only sound types that are embedded into
your presentation.

200 sound files per presentation seems rather a lot. You can insert your
sounds via the insert sound from files, or you can attach a sound to a
particular event.

Thank you. You've been very helpful. I downloaded the software and read
through some of the help files and will begin working on it today. I think I
should be able to do this, but if not, look for me on the message board
again. You gave me a good place to start. Thanks
