We would like to export a group of contacts using Outlook 2002 as
vCards, zip the vCards, and then e-mail them as one file so the recipient
can then unzip the file and import the vCard contacts into either Outlook
2002 or Outlook Express. The vCard format should allow recipients to import
the contacts into both the Outlook 2002 contact folder and the Outlook
Express address book. The problems we face in dealing with large groups of
vCards are as follows:
1. The Outlook 2002 export feature does not let us export vCards to a
file, either singly or as a group.
2. We can export contacts as a personal file folder (.PST), but the
personal file folder cannot be imported into Outlook Express.
3. We can forward vCards as a group of e-mail attachments, but we can
only open them as a vCard (double-click the attachement) and save them one
at a time. This becomes very difficult when sending a large group of
vCards.
4. When a group of vCards is sent as an e-mail attachment, all the
attachments can be highlighted, but they cannot all be saved to disk at
once; they can only be saved one at a time.
5. The sender can bring the contacts into a message as a vCard, but before
sending the message, can save each vCard out individually as a file (you
can't save them all at once). These files can then be zipped and e-mailed
to the recipient, but the recipient can only import them into Outlook 2002
or Outlook Express one at a time.
With the above limitations, we cannot see any meaningful way to send
groups of vCards or contacts in such a way that they can be e-mailed and
imported as an entire group into either Outlook or Outlook Express. Does
anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Richard
