You've always been able to run Access within a virtual PC. However, you will
be running the Windows version of Access if you do this. There is no native
Macintosh version of Access, nor is one planned.

I realize this, but I cannot mail merge with Word this way, plus Access is
slow this way. I am hoping there will be improvements with the integration
AND that Access becomes part of the the Office X package just as it is part
of the Windows Office package.
With VPC you can have a shared folder. Access can export any report or table
as Excel or standard database format into that shared folder. Once you have
exported your data (you can use scripts if you want to automate this), you
can use Mac Word for the mail merge.

It is highly doubtful that you will get even this level of integrated
functionality across platforms, even if VPC is Mac. The OS environments and
application characteristics are too different.
You can send your wishlist to MS, though; if enough people ask for it, maybe
MS will do something.
