VPN and access

I have an mdb file on an windows 2000 server
i connect this server via VPN, i can open and use word and excel files, but not MDB, wehn i open MDB files, say this file is not part of the intranet, somebody know something about this????

Do you have full permissions in the folder? You need full read/write and
create/delete permissions to open the mdb file.

What happens when you try and copy (drag and drop) the file to your local
computer...does it then work? Can you open the file on your locak computer?

I use VPN by directly mapping a drive, or using Terminal Services to connect
to another machine every day to support my clients. Terminal Services is
definitely safer for mdb files, but short connections on a fast, stable VPN
network also work.

Using Terminal Services, you must have at least a runtime of Access on the
server.

Using either method, you must have full permissions (except forFull Control
NT permissions) on the folder, both with Network permisssions and Access
permissions if you are using user-level security.

If you are using a corporate intranet, check the permissions of I_USER in
IIS to make sure I_USER has full permissions.

There was a bug: there is a KB article, but I don't have a reference.
It may have been fixed: Make sure you have the latest version of
IE (it includes updates to the network security stuff) and Win2K
(for the same reason).

Or it may just be your security configuration: I'm not sure how
you configure security settings for your local zone (intranet)
and Internet zone, but I notice that some guru at MS has decided
that MDB's are not safe, even though Word and Excel documents are....
I can't even receive MDB's by email anymore unless they are zipped
first, because of the default security settings on the current
version of Outlook 2000.
