VPN and browse for attachment problem

I have a laptop that is on a home wireless network with no issues. However,
this laptop is also on a VPN for work. When I try to browse for a file to
attach, outlook quits responding and I have to shut it down. This started
happening after I changed the node type to unknown from Peer-to-peer (to
solve a print not found problem). What to do?

This is typically a sign that the Windows browser service is trying to scan
a network drive that's not available. Usually it eventually times out.
Check to make sure all your network drives are connected.
