VSTO 2005 SE and Word XP

Alex

Hello,

Is there any way to write application-level add-in projects in VSTO 2005 SE that will work with Word XP (aka Word 2002)?

I know that it is not officially supported but perhaps it is possible, if the correct PIAs are used?

Thank you.

Best wishes,
Alex.

Hello Alex,

From our website, the VSTO 2005 SE should be targeted at Office 2007.

Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (Visual
Studio 2005 Tools for Office Second Edition or VSTO 2005 SE for short) is a
free add-on to Visual Studio 2005 that empowers developers to build
applications targeting the 2007 Office system. Developers can now harness
the benefits of the 2007 Office system platform and create Office-based
solutions using the professional development environment of Visual Studio
2005.

IMO, the VSTO 2005 SE will not support develop against Office 2002(XP).

I will confirm this with product team.
