W2003:there is insufficient memory save the document now error mes

Hi there

Have been working on a W2003 document (446kb) with some tables and sigma
plot graphs. everything was working fine until 2 days ago - slowed down when
working with one table, at which point I saved. Now I can't reopen the file
- I keep getting the 'there is insufficient memory save the document now'
error message. 'Open and Repair' won't work. Any thoughts?

Working with Office 2003 (pro) with SP2, windows XP.

help!

It sounds like the document has become corrupted. Do you [hope hope hope]
have a backup copy? If you don't have a backup copy, then it's probably time
to start thinking "text recovery".

Before resorting to text recovery, some additional things you might try:

a. Start Word in safe mode (hold down Ctrl key as Word is starting, then
click Yes to starting Word in safe mode). Can Word open the document now?

b. Can you open the file using WordPad? This might be your best shot.

c. Can you open the file using OpenOffice?

d. Have you installed Word 2007 beta? It sometimes is able to open/recover
files that Word 2003 can't.

e. If all else fails, try File - Open, and set Files of type to Recover text
from any File.

Hooray! wordpad worked. Starting word in safe mode didn't. Now I have to
work out which was the offending item....

thanks for all your help.
