W2007 mailmerge using OL2007 contacts

John

Every time I use the wizard the process stalls out (program is not
responding) when I try and use the Outlook Contacts choice.

Here's what I want to do.

I have a catagory in OL called Holiday Cards. I want to create a merged list
of labels so I can send out my cards.

When I try to export these contacts in a csv file I get all my contacts. I
am not about to proof over a thousand contacts for the 118 that I need.

What can I do?

Thanks in advance.

This hasn't been tested on Office 2007. I have no enthusiasm for that
'upgrade' .... yet :(

Hi John,

It's really not clear where you're starting from, which steps you're
performing, at what point the error occurs, nor what error you're getting. That
makes it rather difficult to help you.

Your best bet would be to display the contact list, filtered on the category.
Then in Outlook use Tools/Mail Merge to merge just the contacts in the current
view.

I think Outlook will also allow you to export just the filtered list, if you
prefer the csv route. And in Word, you can click the "Edit Recipient List"
button in the Mailings tab of the Ribbon to create a filter on the Categories
field (click the arrow next to the field name to select from a list).
