W2007 - TOC - spurious chapter headings

Hi,

MS Word 2007.

Problem is that three spurious “headings” appear in the TOC.
There is nothing in the text matching these “1.1.1”
and I’m wondering what is causing them and how they might be
removed.
There is a section 1.1.1 correctly showing in the TOC.

All help or advice welcome and gratefully received,

Make sure you don't have the heading style applied to empty paragraphs, page
breaks, and the like.
