W3C validator

Hi
I used the W3C validator http://validator.w3.org/ to check my web and it
found lots of errors but the page works fine in all browsers. Is it
important that a web complies to this standard

Thanks

Depends on what you would like - a website that has compliant code or a site
you "think" works fine in all browsers on all platforms (there was 89
browsers when I checked one time - that's quite a few)

Is it a small personal or hobby site? a small mom-and-pop business site? And
it works in the 2-3 major browsers used by 99% of the public? Then I
wouldn't worry about validation. If it's for a larger business, might grow a
lot in size, and hopes to have a lot of traffic, you probably want to make
sure the code is valid. Valid code will make everything easier as time goes
on and the site grows and changes.

Validating your code is also a great tool for learning about HTML and CSS
and improving yourself as a web developer.

Steve, I figure that your winky-smiley-face means that you know that that's
totally untrue. :)

And, valid pages load faster in a browser.

Hi Jon - For the sake of those who might not realize that this is
tongue-in-cheek, that's not true. :)

However, there *are* very real reasons why it's a good thing to use W3C
valid code. If you're serious about web development, it's important. If it's
just a hobby, there's no reason to worry about it.

Do they look a lot nicer and get higher search rankings too, or is that
just a myth ;-)
