Wall reference line - position

P

Philippe C.

I have Visio 2003.
On a well, there is the "Set display options"
In the Help I read "Allthough the wall reference line is typically
centered on the wall or aligned with one edge of the wall, you can locate it
any distance you want from the wall as well.

I have tried with the Connection Point Tool, I had a look at the
shapesheet, but I see nog way to do that.

Hello Philippe,

There's a Shape Data / Custom Properties cell named "Refererence Line
Offset" that only becomes visible when "Wall justification" is set to
"Custom". Once this is visible you can change the offset as you wish.

Hope that helps.

Best regards

John

Great, John

Were you able to find it in the Help system ? It could be used for gluing
electrical symbols at a distance of the wall. But I suppose it would have
disadvantages in measuring normal walls.
Now i'll try another path : a shape consisting of four walls :
facade, insulation, red brick, plaster, inivisble distance for gluing
symbols to the wall.

No, I didn't see it in Help, although I didn't look for long. The
ShapeSheet, as you suspected, has the answer.

Is your 'four walls' idea a question by the way?

Best regards

John

Well, the four walls have become a question this afternoon. I trieds all
kinds of glueing, grouping, resize behaviour, selecting. But the compozing
walls continue to have their own lifes. Sometimes they resize with the group
, sometimes they don't.
And to have a nice corner, one size has to give in.

It is all not important. I am trying to get better in Visio and to give a
smart impression to my family. I am redrawing the house while we are
building it.
