Saturn 5
I have a Dell Dimension 8400 with Windows XP Home Edition (Office 2003).
I enjoy viewing my desktop wallpaper in the course of my work on my
computer. Some months back I restarted my system and when my desktop came on
the screen, instead of seeing my desktop icons arranged in front of my
wallpaper, my desktop icons were arranged on a sea of solid desktop color. I
knew the wallpaper was still there because I had previously installed a
transparent taskbar and could see the wallpaper behind the taskbar. I had no
idea how to change it back.
Several weeks later I discovered quite by accident that if I went to
"Control Panel\Display\Desktop\Customize Desktop\Web" and selected "lock
desktop items", that the wallpaper appeared when I applied this setting,
although the text for each icon was still on a little square of desktop
color, unlike before this problem when I could see the wallpaper right
through all the icons' text with no desktop color showing anywhere.
Once or twice I’ve tried deselecting the “lock desktop items†option but I
either go right back to the solid desktop color again, or for a few minutes
the desktop shows the wallpaper as it should with no traces of desktop color
anywhere, then for some reason switches back to solid desktop color.
I have no idea what I’ve done to cause this, or what I can do to fix it.
Any suggestions?
