Wandering cursor

I am runing windows XP sp3 and when typing ithe cursor suddenly jumps to a
different place on the page such that I find myself typing in the middle of
something else. The Word version is: Word 2002 10.267.2625
and I am using a laptop with a touch pad.
Is it me, or is ther a glitch?

If you are using a laptop with a touch pad, then that's the answer right
there. Either keep your thumbs off the touch pad or disable it.
