Want Outlook/got OneNote. What do I do?

I recently bought a laptop (which means its too old. LOL). It came with
Microsoft Office with OneNote. I have yet to find the usefullness of that
program. I hear everyone talking about Outlook. I want this, but I dont want
to purchase office over again, can I upgrade to Outlook and delete OneNote
and just pay the difference?

Outlook is available as a standalone program. Other than the cat that
"everyone is talking about Outlook", have you looked to see what it is/can
do? I have it but I could certainly do without it. Windows Mail does what I
need.

And to answer the unasked question... OneNote and Outlook serve entirely
different purposes. Outlook is for email, contact lists,
appointments/calendar, etc. OneNote is for organizing information. Like you,
I've yet to find its usefulness (tried it, but it doesn't "think" the same
way I do), but I'm sure there are many who find it infinitely useful.

So... you cannot upgrade from OneNote to Outlook. That'd be like upgrading
from a hammer to a barometer. :)
