Want to autostart an xls file

Hi!

Using Windows 2000 pro eng and Office 2000 swe

I want to autostart (at logon) an xls file but Excel starts up empty.
I have put an shortcut to the file in the startup folder.

I do not want to have this file start every time I start excel, i.e.
Excel should still start up with an empty spread sheet.

Do anyone know the answer to my problem?

I don't know what's wrong. But what happens if you edit the startup
shortcut to launch excel with the first calling parameter the file you
wish to load, e.g. "excel c:\temp\test.xls" which works for me. You may
have to replace "excel" with a full path to the excel Executable.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Thank you for the suggestion.
When I created a shortcut with the target:

"C:\path_to\excel.exe C:\path_to\file.xls"

the system complained about 'Not valid' or something like that, but by
changing the target to:

"C:\path_to\excel.exe" "C:\path_to\file.xls"

the system accepted the input and a logout/login gave a successful
result: Excel started with the file opened.

Thank you for your help!
