Want to Buy Office 2007, Need Help First

David

I am going to buy several additional copies of Office 2007, but I have
a few questions first.

1. Is there any way to get pre-sales help (without a fee) from
Microsoft on their products before I buy them? Is this forum the best
way?

2. I have Office 2007 on my main workstation. When I installed it,
(hopefully my memory is good), the installation program contacted
Microsoft over the internet to activate the product.
I have several office computers that I plan on installing office
2007 on. These PCs have NO INTERNET connection and never will. How
do I activate Office on these machines?

3. I need Word, Excel, Powerpoint, & Outlook on some PCs. Both the
Standard & the Small Business versions have this. But, the small
business version has more stuff and COSTS LESS! Am I seeing something
wrong?

4. There must be a catch to the Home & Student version. It includes
Word, Excel, Powerpoint, & notes. It even seems to include 3 licenses
for 3 different PCs. Yet, it only costs $99.95. Am I missing
something here. There must be a gotcha to get a deal this good!

I'd appreciate any help that can be offered on these issues.

1. The public newsgroups are a great starting point.

2. Telephone activation.

3. Normally Standard is $399 and Small Business is $450. The site appears to
have a reduced price for Small business. I'd suggest jumping on that offer
NOW. Amazon.com is selling SB for $243 - There must have been some sort of a
price reduction. I don't know if it's a permanent one but it's a doozy!

4. Non-commercial use only. No working at home, no non-profit work, etc.

Thanks for the help.

In regards to the last question on the home & student version:

My small business is a licensed day care center with a school age
program. I provide PCs for the students (through 5th grade) to do
their homework on. I guess I was hopeful I would be allowed to use
the home & student version on the student's PCs. Any chance of this
working?

It's a Microsoft sale and expires on Sep 30, 2008.

No, you are a business and that rules out the Home and Student Edition.

JoAnn, Glad you showed that on the NG, I'll now have a copy of Publisher '07
to play around with along with the rest of the Business suite. The upgrade
is even better at $149 on Amazon. Since I have "many upgradable versions"
of Office, I'm all set.

I had to dig a bit for that. I thought it was an error until I saw Amazon
had a lower price too. Enjoy Publisher! :)

You might want to look into buying Office 2007 Enterprise with 5 Licenses. It is a lot cheaper than buying as many copies of Office in any other flavor especially for your needs.

As far as your other questions are concerned JoAnn has answered them for you

Do you have an accredited teacher on staff, and do you offer educational
programs? If so you might want to call MS and see if you qualify for
“Academic Pricingâ€. A full version of Office Pro is only $270 with academic
pricing.

You might not qualify but it’s worth a try.
