Wanting NOT to write in unicode when using webmail

Hi

I have a problem with unicode. I belong to a mailinglist, where some of the
people cannot read my mails, when they are in unicode.

This problem is only when using webmail.

Every time I log on I have to change it to western, and cannot find a way to
make this permanent.

Does anyone know how to do this?
