Warning About Spam

R

Rafael Montserrat

Yesterday I posted to this newsgroup (it could be any newsgroup) on
the internet because my Outlook Express is down. Recently I canceled
my original email address because 100 pieces of spam were coming in
daily. I believe that started just after I got on newsgroups.

Yesterday I posted using an email address I reserve for e-bay, not
wanting to risk my primary address. I was startled this morning to see
7 spam come up on that address which never before had seen spam.
Clearly, getting on newsgroups exxposes one to spam because that (as
I've been told) is where hackers (may they burn painfully in the
deepest levels of hell) harvest our addresses.

Dayo told me to create a phoney email address for newsgroups, and he's
right. The reason my Outlook Express is on down time is because I
couldn't figure out how to do that and screwed some things up which
makes it impossible to go on newsgroups direct from OE.

It doesn't matter, however, whether access is via web or mail program.
The email address is doomed like a like a rat in a trap. I'm using the
same email address to send this because it's shot already and I have
to create a new one for e bay.

Sure, but please end phoney email addresses with ".invalid" such as to
assure that news group users (and their software) know that the address
is phoney!
