Warning Mesages on Data Access Page

K

Kim Rawlings

I have created a data access page that communicates with a database. It is
successful when published to the intranet at my work, but the following
warning messages come up when accessing the page (both in Access and online):
"This website uses a data provider that may be unsafe. If you trust the
website, click OK, otherwise click Cancel."
and
"This website is using your identity to access a data source. If you trust
this website, click OK to continue, otherwise click Cancel."

Any help with the warning messages? I'm new to Access and have tried all
the help topics and can't seem to fix this problem.

Thanks!

Go to the menu item Tools/Macro/Security and set the Security Level to Low.
Good The message should stop coming up. Bad You may have to do
this for each user.

Hi Kim,

I am having the same problem. I don't think that Carol's answer works. She
is addressing a different problem if I am not mistaken. I will check back to
see if someone responds with an answer but please let me know if you find a
solution and I will do the same.

Thanks,
Bonnie

You must change the security level of your Local Intranet zone: IE Tools -->
Options --> Security --> Custom Level... . I think that the parameter to
set is "Access data sources across domains". It is also that you will have
to set one of the parameter for running ActiveX content but I don't remember
which one.

If the page is located on the internet, it is best to add this site to your
list of Trusted Sites instead of change the security settings for the
Internet.

If the page is located on your hard drive or a CD-Rom, then you must set the
settings "Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer" and "Allow
active content to run in files on My Computer"; located in IE Tools -->
Options --> Advanced --> Security.
