"Warning: Page has Expired" Error

J

John McGanty

Often when I hit the back button in Internet Explorer 6
(XP Professional), on a number of different sites/pages I
get the above error, even though it doesn't happen on
these same pages from my laptop or another machine. It's
as if the info to refresh the previous page isn't resent,
even though I'd like to be able to get to that page.
Does anyone know the setting I need to change to be able
to go back in this manner? Thanks much for any help you
can provide!

This isn't a good forum for this question, but HTTP RFC specifies that
non-idempotent HTTP operations (like HTTP POSTS) require that the user be
prompted before the operation is retried, as when the user hits BACK on
their browser.

The solution is to rearchitect the site to use HTTP GET requests instead of
POSTs.
