I have used the sendobject command in several previous
version of VBA within Access. With this version of 2002
in the xp operating system I get a pop-up that says "A
program is trying to automatically send e-mal on you
behalf. do you want to allow this? -----How can this be
suppressed?

The only way to suppress this message is if the user is connected to an
exchange server. A setting can be enabled on the exchange server that will
allow trusted apps to access the Outlook object model without prompting.
Unfortunately, for POP3 users this can not be changed.
