Watermark appearance in Excel 2008

Hi

I have an Excel spreadsheet created in Excel 2004 to which I have added a watermark. When I view this in Office 2008, the watermark does not appear as it does in 2004. If the same spreadsheet is saved in 2008, then the watermark loses its original appearance when viewed in 2004 too.

Is there any way to maintain the original appearance of the watermark in 2008 as well? Kindly help.

Thanks..

It's a bit hard to say... You don't mention what you've used to create the
watermark, what procedure you used to do so, what it is that's "different"
about it or what file format(s) you're saving in. Having no clue as to what
it's supposed to look like or what the difference is makes it rather hard to
hazard a guess about howto fix it.

Hi

It's a slanting text watermark; I am not sure as to how exactly the Watermark was created. The spreadsheet is actually a template that we've been using since long. When used in 2004, I can select the watermark and move it as an object. To edit it, I double-click on it which takes me to the Edit WordArt Text window. I can modify its properties by control-clicking and selecting the Format WordArt option.

However, in 2008, the WordArt is editable on selection itself - I can change the text directly; it's not slanting but horizontal. A slanting outline appears around the watermark.

I hope this info would be of some use to understand the situation.

Thanks..

Well, I'm afraid you've got me a bit confused now. Excel doesn't have a
Watermark feature as such. Although you can insert an image into a Header or
Footer you cant "select it" once you do... And AFAIK there's no way to put a
WordArt Object into the H/F & preserve it as WordArt.

It sounds like you simply have a WordArt Object placed on your '04 sheet -
perhaps with Transparency applied so that the underlying cell content shows
through. If so I can understand that it renders differently in 2008 because
WordArt is handled by a new graphics engine.

I believe the only way you might get the consistency you want is to rt-click
the WordArt Object & choose Save As Picture, save it as a PNG then insert it
into the Header. You can use the Format Picture button on the H/F Toolbar to
adjust Transparency, size, etc. but you'll have to use the return key to
force it down into the page.

Hi

I tried the method of inserting the picture into the Header. However, the picture thus inserted is not visible in the Normal view. Is there any way in which the picture can be viewed in Normal view too?

Thanks..

No, Headers & Footers do not display in Normal View.
