Watermark option unavailable

Any idea why the watermark option would be greyed out on a document? I hate
having a draft floating about masquerading as a final version.

If you're referring to Format>Background>Printed Watermark, both the Picture
as well as the Text options are grayed out until you *pick* one or the
other. Beyond that I haven't a clue as you don't specify anything more about
how you are attempting to create the watermark or what version of Word
you're using. Features & solutions vary based on those specifics.

I'm using Word 2002. When I go to Format>Background I have a palette and the
options to pick more colors or choose fill effects. The "Printed Watermark"
option is greyed out.

Thanks for the info - that helps a great deal.

The first thing to try is Tools>Customize - Toolbars, click the name of the
Menu Bar, then click Reset. That may do the trick.

Make sure that you're in Print Layout view (not Web Layout). But if you just
want to *remove* a watermark, in the document, choose View | Header and
Footer, select the watermark, and press Delete.
