watermarks

I have placed a watermark in my document which is a JPEG file which I find to
lifgt. I have ticked 'Washout'. If I uncheck 'washout' it is to dark. How can
I change the intensity of my watermark to make is darker when using 'washout'
or lighter when not using 'washout'.

Washout is just a preset setting that sets brightness to 85% and contrast to
15% (the default setting is 50% for both). You can use the Format Picture
dialog to manually increase or decrease the brightness, or you can use the
More Brightness/Less Brightness controls on the Picture toolbar, which
change the brightness by 3% per step.

Note that any image used as a watermark (that is, anchored to the header and
formatted as Behind Text) will be even lighter when the header is not
active. To get a better idea of how it will appear printed, use Print
Preview. In my experience, however, watermarks sometimes print darker than
they appear in Print Preview.
