Watermarks

I tried to create a text watermark in my document and when
I do it changes my 12 pages document to 410 pages and the
text is huge. This doesn't seem to happen to all of my
documents but some. I can't figure out why and appreciate
any help.

Thanks.

Did you set the watermark "Behind Text"? If not, you've got a huge object in
the header forcing the document text down on the page.

Sorry that I forgot to mention that I am using Word 2002
(Office XP). I do not see any place to to choose "Behind
Text". The document is what becomes enlarged....the
fonts in the document. I can see the watermark on each
page in the correct size and font. However, the entire
original document fonts changes to a huge size.

Check to see whether the Normal.style is set to update automatically. (I'm
not sure why it would be affected by a watermark, but it's worth a try.)
Select the style in the Styles and Formatting task pane, choose Modify,
clear the check box for "Automatically update" if necessary, and then
redefine the font for the style.

Suzanne,

Thanks for the tip. You pointed me to the right place.
However, it was not the "Automatically Update" box. I
noticed that some of the formatting that was applied to my
document was in Courier 1480...I changed all of them to
the correct font and size and it worked fine.

Thanks for all your help.
