wav files in powerpoint

I received a pps that had a wav file in it that was only 408 kb. The quality
of the sound was excellent. I have tried converting wma to wav and the file
is very large. about 22 mb i have tried changing the settings when converting
but still the file size is never less than 15 mb and the sound quality is
lost. Does anyone have any idea how to get a file that is converted to wav
that small without losing the sound quality?

Small and wav should never be used in the same sentence, there simply is no
such thing as a small wav unless it's only a few seconds in length.

The 15 mb should be 1.5 mb but that is still a lot larger than the 408 kb
they had in their pps. I would really like to know how they did it if anyone
may know or maybe they have done the same thing without losing any of the
audio quality.
thanks

Well that might be true but the song is Celine Dion's I'm Alive and in the
sound recorder it shows to be 208.72 seconds long or about 3.5 minutes. I've
listened to it several times and it doesn't sound as if it has been shortened
or cut or looped. So if that's the case then I'd have to say it is a small
wav file. I can send it if you'd like to hear it.

There are apps out there that allow you to create a fake wav file from an
MP3. PowerPoint thinks they are a wav and inserts them, the only drawback is
they won't play on all machines.
