Way back machine - Office 97

So I just got a computer with XP home and I installed the office 97 that I
had on my win 98 machine. I went through the updates and downloaded them, but
now neither work or excel will start up after I ran the updates.

Do I have to uninstall them and start over?
Do the updates need to be installed in a certian order?

Or am I ok without all of them?

I am having the same problem, which updates have you downloaded?

Well, it was about 8 or 10 of them.
After a couple of restarts Word and Excel both start and say that they have
the SR2 update. But during the process, there were 3 or 4 of the updaters
that failed. I don't know why, but now both are working, and I still can't
get some of the updates to install.

Sorry if I'm not much help.
What I haven't tried is to reinstall the original word and excel and then
try the updates in date order. Since they basically working now I haven't
bothered.
