Entourage gives you the subject and time... What I'd really like to see in
the column is the size of the e mail, any way to achieve this? Thanks

Look under View --> Columns and add Size. This is for Preview Pane view.

Under 3 pane view, you can create a custom arrangement:

It's grayed out in 3 pane view. Use custom arrangements in 3 pane view.
There is no column to show size in 3 pane view. If you don't like the custom
arrangement, then use Preview Pane view.
Thanks Diane, did understand much of that except I can't see size.

It's grayed out in 3 pane view because there is are only three columns so
you can't add an additional column for size. In Preview Pane view, you can
have multiple columns.

Custom arrangements can be set in 3 Pane view. One of the options in custom
arrangements is size.

Look at the examples here to create your own custom arrangement.

Did you mean you *did* or *didn't* understand? I can't tell what the
issue is from this sentence.

Perhaps a different vocabulary would be good....

By 3-pane view, Diane means Preview Pane is set to On Right. By Preview
Pane, she means Preview Pane is set to Below.

You have much less control with Preview on Right, so you have two
options here--you can use Preview Below and use View | Columns to show
size, or you can try a custom arrangement with Preview on Right, as
quoted below.
