WBS creating custom

Hi All

can you create a custom WBS code so that the prefix can be changed for each
phase?
e.g.
Task Name WBS
Preparation Phase PREP:1
Task1 PREP: 1.1
Task2 PREP: 1.2
Task3 PREP: 1.3
Construction Phase CONS: 1
Task 1 CONS: 1.1
Task 2 CONS: 1.2
etc

I know that i can do it if i break them down into separate projects and then
consolidate them but i was hoping to avoid this.

Julie,
Although Project automatically populates the WBS field, it is user
definable. Simply overwrite the default values with your scheme.
