WDS3 running in background slows down the PC

I installed Windows Desktop Search 3 Beta as it's needed to allow searches in
OneNote 2007 Beta. But I've noticed that my surfing speed in Internet
Explorer even with an 8Mb broadband connection has slowed considerably.

if I go into Control Panel and click on the icon "indexing options", it says
"indexing paused" and internet surfing in terms of switching between websites
speeds up a lot!

Is there a way to pause WDS3 without having to click on the indexing options
icon in control panel?

I also have Yahoo Desktop search installed and have found that I need to
de-actoivate it until I need it to do some indexing otherwise eveything slows
down dramatically. Except with Yahoo Desktop Search, you can close it by just
right clicking on the icon

Open Task Manager and switch to the process view. When your internet
surfing slows down, which process takes up the most CPU (list the three
top CPU consumers)?

Just as a side-note: you prob. should only run one desktop search
program. However, WDS 3 is not one yet, so keep this in mind for future
wds3 betas.
