Weard problem with formatting of charts in Excel 2007

Rolando

One workbook with 5 sheets with each different charts, Excel 2007, Wind XP.
One of the 5 charts is not shown when the workbook is opened unless a
preview is performed,... and even then the format is changed since the
original and objects in chart can not be changed.
On a second PC, also in Excel 2007-Win XP, this problem is not encountered,
all graphs are as original format.
I contacted Microsoft for this problem but they claim problems with the
printer driver (HP). I also contacted HP for this problem but they claim
problems with Office Excel.
Has enyone encountered this problem also ?

Seems to me a printer driver would affect all charts.

Was the bad chart (or the good charts) created in an earlier version of
Excel? I haven't experienced problems like this firsthand, but I've heard
from folks who have had issues related to crossing versions.

Unfortunately your more robust means of recovery may be to rebuild the
workbook and charts.

Dear Jon
I have created a new chart from scratch in Excel 2007
believe it or not, the same problem shows up !
chart isn't showed unless 'preview' selected, and formats are changed !
I can't believe this !

Dear Jon
I found where the problem lies
suppose a chart with 2 line series (further S1 and S2)
S1 is referenced to the 1st vertical axis (V1), S2 to the 2nd vertical axis
(V2), so far OK
I added 2 series which represent the average of all timepoints in S1 and S2
(further A1 and A2.
I want the averages to be referenced to their respective axis, meaning A1
ref to axis V1, A2 to axis V2 and also to be located at the end of series,
meaning @ the last datapoint
To perform the fiirst action, when I reference both A1 and A2 to their
respective V1 and V2, no problem
To perform 2n action, I changed A1's chart type to XY scatter, OK,
BUT from the moment I change the chart type of A2 to XYScatter, the problems
comes in.
When I save the file and reopen the chart doen's showup unless preview,
resulting in changed formts AND S2 disappeared !
any suggestions ?

What are your X values? Are they dates?

What is the type of category axis? Category ("Text" in 2007) or date-scale?
If date-scale, what is the base unit?

Jon
X values are contineous number values
Category axis is text bud represent dates in textform
However, when graphs construsted in new workbook with series as numbers and
no category axis type selected (thus represent sample numbers), the same
problem occurs.
