Web Based Data Entry

I am NOT a database guy. however I am trying to build a
database that I can access from the web. I have the data
base built and the web page works great. I have the data
access page linked to the database and if I run the page
inside on our network it runs great. the problem is when I
run it from outside the network I get the following error
on the client machine "Microsoft Office Web componants
could not open the
database "\\servername\share\database.mdb""

to access the web page I am going to
http://domain/directory and I get the web page with out
any data. I try to set the connection path for the data
access page to http://domain/directory/database.mdb and
cannot find the database.

Does anyone have any ideas?
