Web Components Licence ???

O

Olivier

Hello,

I just spent hundreds hours to develop a functionality using the Office Web Spreadsheet in my VB app.
Some of my users (not all my users) have the worksheet in the "view-only" mode. They however have a corporate Office XP Licence...

Can someone tell me what is missing ?????

Hi,
It's quite easy to fix. I had this problem before. If your user does not
have Office XP installed they will see the non-interactive view.
You need to create a .lpk licensing file and reference it into the page.
It will unlock your page. Just shoot me an email and I will send you the
details. I cant attach any file here.
I am on (e-mail address removed)

Cheers.

Hi,
I guess I should provide the answer by posting rather than emailing
personally.
Donwload the .lpk file creation tool from here;
http://www.iocomp.com/examples/IE/lpkfiletutorial.htm
and follow this tutorial how to create a .lpk file for Microsoft
PivotTable 10 or 9
and then just reference it into top of your page. If you have a
Drillthrough page then you need to reference the file on that page as
well. Usually it is a "blank.htm" file.

This will work in any PC regardless of any office installation.
The next question would be what about the Office licensing then? Well it
works morally which means you should not do it unless you have the
relevant office licenses. Check Microsoft for licensing.
Cheers.

I'll try it but will it work in my VB app ? You're talking about page, I
guess web pages but I'm not using web pages...
OLE is too slow for VB. The Office spreadsheet was the perfect deal for me.
As ALL my users do have a corporate licence, I did not really pay attention
to that view-only mode.

Olivier.
