Web Hit Counter - HOW CAN I DO THIS?

S

Stephen

Hi

I'm using FP2000

A client has asked for a "web hit counter/statistics"
i.e. who has visited what page and when - to be
added to his site BUT he doesn't want the
"counter" displayed to the public.

Is there any code or direct me somewhere else
that could help with this?

Once I have got a counter - could I place it
on a page that is not listed/linked on the site?

If so would it still count the hits?

Never done one before - any help appreciated.

Thanks, Stephen

A hit counter will only count hits - it (usually) does not record who
visited, and when.
Use the server logs that your host provides, which will give
information on who (IP address), what pages, and when.

Dear Stephen,

All good ASP instructional/informational sites offer web tracking
solutions. A Google search for "asp web tracking" or "asp hit counters"
produces hundreds of results - one thorough, detailed example of a web
application that will meet your needs is presented by the good folks at
SourceCodeCentral.com. The starting page for their tutorial is at:

Good luck, Stephen, happy counting.
