web links are not active

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Until last week when I would key a URL into a cell in the spreadsheet and hit return the Link would go active - turn blue and be underlined. Then when I put the cursor on the cell it changes the cursor to the fist and index finger. Clicking it would open the website.

Beginning last week when I enter a URL and hit return, the address remains black, is not underlined, and when I put the cursor on it the fist remains closed.

This problem is only with Excel. Word still acts properly.

of what it says
