Web links don't work in PowerPoint after saving to html

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

After saving a powerpoint document for the web with the html format, the links do not work. The file seems to be saved as a picture file instead even though I chose 'save for web' and it creates the appropriate files - how can I get the links to work after the document is publish to my site? Thanks.

I am suffering the same problem when exporting to html and also pdf and I would also like to know if there is a solution to this issue.
