web not viewable

Site was published/viewable prior to a recent update and is currently not
viewable.

Host indicated that there are no files in the public html directory.

Where did they go and how do I get them back?

Republish the site or have your Provider restore from a backup.

I tried that right away which is actually when the web went off line.

I did it again just now but to no avail.
