Web site stops publishing

My web site publishes sometimes, some pages do, some don't. I currently
updated about 800 pages through dynamic web templates, I am getting the error
message:
Server Error The page.....has been modified by unknown on......
and it stops publishing.
The confusing thing is that I updated the same pages last week and they
published fine. I saw a posting from Feb 05, that said to delete the pages
on the server. I can't go delete 1000+ pages.
I did find if I go to my remote site and make a change, any change, save,
and go back and publish, it will publish. I have been doing this for over a
year...but it is getting old, and extremely time consuming. My IP server
says it is a
Front Page issue. Can anyone help me with this?

update: I changed my publishing option from: comparing source and
destination sites, to: use time filestamps to determine changes
